Why This Sermon?

Redeemer Winter Haven is a church I’ve heard of for a little while now, their Pastor Drew Bennett is a church planting leader and a friend of a our client Gabriel Forsyth of the Orlando Church Planting Network. So out of some curiosity, I decided to watch one of their sermons, as one might, and this message caught me completely off guard. It gave me an understanding of the concept of friendship that I had never had before, it tied it all back to Christ, and it shared with me that friendship for friendship’s sake is indeed a dying art in our world that is becoming increasingly dangerous, perverse, and sinful. As Pastor Drew spoke, I thought about my own friendships and what makes them special to me, I resonated with many of the points that he brought up that I hope you listen to, but there is one other thing this sermon brought to mind, Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. That perhaps what that Presbyterian preacher lived out so exceptionally, is what Drew Bennett, another Presbyterian preacher comprehends so completely, that friendship seeks to glorify more than those in the friendship, and that it can not be carried out successfully until those in the friendship incorporate Christ in the fullest extent.
